New Chapter Privacy Policy

New Chapter recognizes and respects each individual’s right to privacy and the careful management of personal information.  By providing Personal Information to New Chapter, you agree and consent that we may collect, use, and disclose your Personal Information in accordance with this Policy.  Unless permitted by law, New Chapter does not collect, use, or disclose personal information without consent.

We consider “Personal Information” to mean information about an identified individual, other than business contact information.  However, for the most part, our collection of personal information is limited to names, addresses, and email addresses for the purpose of communicating with you about New Chapter products and to provide educational information on nutrition, natural health products, organics and the environment. Information submitted to the Natural Health Product Advisor is not stored or associated with identifiable information.

Why New Chapter collects and uses Personal Information

New Chapter collects and uses Personal Information to assist in promoting New Chapter’s own products and services, including:

  • Sending communications with information about New Chapter’s products and other educational information;
  • Meeting any legal or regulatory requirements; and
  • Any other purposes consistent with those listed above.

When New Chapter may disclose your Personal Information

Normally, New Chapter will not disclose Personal Information unless you have authorized the disclosure.  There are some circumstances where New Chapter may disclose Personal Information without consent. Such circumstances include where:

  • New Chapter is required or permitted by law or by order of a court, tribunal, or administrative agency;
  • New Chapter believes, on reasonable grounds, that it is necessary to protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of an identifiable person or group; or

New Chapter will not disclose more information than required or permitted.  We do not sell, trade, barter, exchange or disclose for consideration any Personal Information that we collect.

Accuracy and Retention

New Chapter endeavours to ensure that your Personal Information is as accurate as necessary and generally retains Personal Information as long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.

Protection of Personal Information

New Chapter endeavours to maintain appropriate physical, procedural and technical security with respect to its offices and information storage facilities.

Where New Chapter shares Personal Information with organizations that perform services on its behalf, we will require those service providers to take the necessary precautions to protect the Personal Information. New Chapter’s offices are located in Vermont.  Therefore, when information is submitted to us it will be maintained outside of Canada.  We may also retain service providers that store Personal Information outside of Canada.  Confidentiality and security of information are key considerations for New Chapter when retaining service providers both inside and outside of Canada.

Access to your Personal Information

New Chapter endeavours to provide access to Personal Information within a reasonable time following your request. New Chapter may decline to provide access to Personal Information in certain limited circumstances, including where permitted or required by law.

Withdrawing consent

In most cases and subject to legal or contractual restrictions, you are free to refuse or withdraw your consent at any time upon reasonable, advance notice.
